A disturbing case has emerged from Greater Noida after a 16 year old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted inside a sleeper bus by its driver and conductor earlier this month. Both accused have since been arrested, police said. According to the police, the incident took place on August 4 near Pari Chowk. The Class 11 student, who is from Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, had reportedly left home after an argument with her mother over her studies. She was attempting to reach her cousin in Noida Sector 63.

The teenager allegedly got off at Pari Chowk by mistake during heavy rain and darkness. Stranded at the location, she reportedly stopped a sleeper bus for assistance. Police said the bus was empty at the time and had been returning after repairs. The conductor allegedly told the girl that the bus was heading towards Noida Sector 63, following which she boarded. According to her complaint, the two men later sexually assaulted her and allegedly threatened her when she resisted. The bus subsequently travelled towards Delhi, with the teenager allegedly being abandoned near Kashmere Gate.

Police identified the accused as driver Kuldeep and conductor Sandeep and arrested them from a parking area in Timarpur. Investigators have seized the bus and sent it for forensic examination. CCTV footage from the vehicle’s route is also being examined as part of the investigation, while forensic teams have collected evidence from the bus. Following the incident, the teenager was produced before the Child Welfare Committee and was later handed over to her parents. Police are continuing to investigate the allegations and analyse forensic and CCTV evidence. The case has raised fresh concerns about the safety of minors travelling alone and the need for stronger safeguards in private and sleeper bus services. The investigation remains underway, and further details are awaited.
