Eight people have been arrested after two groups of youngsters allegedly clashed near a club in Panaji, Goa, police said on Monday. The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday near SOHO Club, which falls under the jurisdiction of Panaji police station. According to officials, the confrontation involved groups of youngsters who allegedly got into a heated argument before the situation escalated into a physical fight.

Police said the accused allegedly formed separate groups, verbally abused each other and assaulted one another in a public place. The altercation reportedly created a disturbance in the area and affected public peace and tranquillity. Following information about the clash, police intervened and took action against those allegedly involved in the incident.

The eight arrests are part of the police action following the disturbance near the club. Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances that led to the confrontation and the role of each person arrested. Police have also reiterated the need to maintain public order, particularly in areas around entertainment venues where large groups gather during late-night hours.
