Samay Raina Joins LinkedIn as ‘Head of Communications & Ethics’? Viral Screenshot Debunked
A screenshot claiming comedian Samay Raina has been appointed LinkedIn’s “Head of Communications & Ethics” is circulating widely online.
Stand up comedian Samay Raina has once again found himself at the centre of a viral social media claim, this time involving a purported senior position at LinkedIn. A screenshot circulating online claims that Raina has been appointed as LinkedIn’s “Head of Communications & Ethics.” The post reportedly carries a headline attributed to an outlet called The Daily Ledger, suggesting that the comedian has taken up the unusual corporate role. However, there is no credible evidence that Raina has actually joined LinkedIn in such a position.
Neither LinkedIn nor the comedian has publicly announced or confirmed the alleged appointment. Fact check reports have also identified the viral claim as false or satirical. The claim appears to have gained traction because of its humorous contrast: Raina, known for his unconventional comedy and sharp satire, being presented as a senior figure responsible for “communications and ethics” at a major professional networking platform. A LinkedIn creator, G Harshith Aditya Varma, also called out the circulating screenshot and clarified that the headline was fake and intended as satire. The Daily Ledger report itself could not be independently verified as a genuine news report about Raina’s appointment.
Interestingly, LinkedIn does have profiles under the name Samay Raina, but the publicly visible profiles do not establish that the comedian has taken up the alleged executive position. One prominent profile identifies him as a comedian and creator, rather than a LinkedIn executive. The viral post has emerged at a time when Raina is already attracting significant online attention following fresh controversy surrounding his comedy show India’s Got Latent. This has likely contributed to the rapid spread of humorous and misleading posts involving his name. For now, the claim that Samay Raina has become LinkedIn’s “Head of Communications & Ethics” should be treated as false. There is no verified announcement from LinkedIn or Raina confirming such an appointment.
