The city depends on seven major reservoirs Bhatsa, Modak Sagar, Tansa, Middle Vaitarna, Upper Vaitarna, Vehar and Tulsi for most of its drinking water requirements.

Several of these lakes have received substantial inflows following sustained rainfall in their catchment regions. As a result, the reservoirs have moved closer to their maximum storage levels, strengthening Mumbai’s overall water security.
