While first-year students registered a higher pass rate than last year and science groups led the performance charts, the second-year General stream remained a concern, with fewer students clearing the examinations compared to 2025 and the overall pass percentage staying below 50 per cent. The Telangana Board of Secondary Education (TGBIE) has declared the results of the Intermediate Public Advanced Supplementary Examinations (IPASE), today, June 11, 2026. However, the official data shows that the pass percentage for second-year General stream students is below 50%. It stands at 47.70%. Last year, the pass percentage in 2025 was 50.96%. There is a significant drop in the pass percentages of the TGBIE Supplementary exam results. The supplementary examinations were held from May 13 to May 21 across 889 centres in the state. Nearly four lakh students from both General and Vocational streams appeared for the examinations, which were conducted shortly after the regular Intermediate results. Overall, 3,98,459 students appeared for the supplementary examinations this year. The answer scripts were evaluated at 17 spot valuation centres before the results were finalised. The board has also continued its student-support initiatives, including counselling services in thousands of junior colleges and access to mental-health assistance through Tele-MANAS, aimed at helping students cope with examination-related stress. Less than half of second-year general students clear examination The second-year General stream, where the pass percentage stood at 47.70 per cent. Out of 1,19,307 students who appeared, only 56,904 were able to clear the examination. In 2025, the pass percentage was 50.96%. The result is better than 2024, when the pass percentage stood at 43.79 per cent, but the absence of any year-on-year improvement compared to 2025 is likely to raise concerns among education officials. First-year candidates fare better Of the 2.5 lakh students who appeared in the first-year General stream supplementary examination, 1.72 lakh passed, pushing the pass percentage to 68.71 per cent. The improvement may appear modest, but it marks a rise from last year's 67.36 per cent. More importantly, it continues the upward trend seen over the past three years. Girls maintained a clear lead over boys As seen in the regular Intermediate examinations, girls once again outperformed boys across both years. In the first-year General stream, girls recorded a pass percentage of 75.85 per cent, more than 13 percentage points higher than boys, who registered 62.37 per cent. The gap remained visible in the second year as well. While 51.19 per cent of girls cleared the examination, the corresponding figure for boys stood at 45.62 per cent. Science stream continues to lead Group-wise data reveals that science students performed considerably better than their peers in commerce and humanities-related streams. Among first-year candidates, MPC emerged as the strongest-performing group with a pass percentage of 78.57 per cent, followed closely by BPC at 75.16 per cent. The pattern continued in the second year. BPC students recorded a pass percentage of 56.04 per cent, while MPC candidates achieved 50.45 per cent. In comparison, commerce-focused streams struggled. MEC students registered a pass percentage of just 37.65 per cent in the second year, while CEC students recorded 41.25 per cent. Ready to navigate global policies? Secure your overseas future.
